Check Engine Light

Why did your check engine light come on?

Your transmission and exhaust are all complex systems and follow specific processes for operation. This means the possibilities for potential issues are diverse. One of the most common has to do with the gas cap. The gas cap is part of a sealed internal system that recirculates gasoline vapors in the gas tank to prevent them from escaping into the air. If the cap is compromised in any way, it could cause the system to behave irregularly and lose fuel through evaporation.

Worn spark plugs or spark plug wiring, a failed or clogged catalytic converter, malfunctioning oxygen sensor, and faulty mass airflow sensor are additional reasons for why your engine light may come on. It is also important to take note what exactly your check engine light does when it’s on. Is it always illuminated, or does it only light up in certain conditions? Is the light constant, or does it flash or blink?

This information might not seem important, but it’s beneficial for us when identifying and fixing the issue during check engine light diagnostics.
